John Blais – The Blazeman

A friend of mine who also happens to be a fellow Triathlete sent this to me early this morning.  I highly recommend you take the few minutes to listen to John’s inspiring story.  What a great way to start off the day.

Happy Fourth … a little late

I promised myself I’d take a few days off from posting over the long holiday weekend and spend some quality uninterrupted time with my family.  I needed a mental break and I’m sure they did too.  With that said, last night I was able to sneak in a little Tri related “stuff” as I worked on putting on my new ReserveAid stickers on my disc cover.  Wifey says I’m way too sentimental at times, but I thought it was fitting that as I was applying the stickers the famous NYC Fourth of July fireworks celebration was on the tube.  I have to say that I stopped for a minute and just thought to myself how lucky I was to be an American.  This, in turn, led me to realize how extremely proud I was to be racing for such a great organization inTeam ReserveAid.

I’ve been lacking motivation recently, so I went to the well and pulled up this old video.  Quality.

We talkin’ about practice

Posted in Pics / Video, Random on May 6, 2011 by eeodim

“We talkin’ about practice … I mean how silly is that?”

Unfortunately, for those of us not as talented at our craft as Iverson practice is extremely important.  The race tomorrow is just that – practice.  I’ve been pounding this into my head over the last week.  This will be a great opportunity to practice transitions, practice what works with my nutrition, practice with my pacing over the run, practice with how I’ll set my bike up … practice, practice , practice.  Have to keep that in mind.

Plan for the rest of the day leading into tomorrow morning:

> Big early lunch that’s heavy on the carbs – targeting a big ‘ol bowl of pasta

> Light early dinner – maybe a 6″ subway sandwich

> Hydrate with Gatorade over the course of the day

> Leave work around 4pm and make the 140 mile trek down to southern NJ

> Repack all my gear tonight and get to bed early

> It’s suggested to get up in the middle of the night (roughly 5 hrs before the race starts) to digest 600-800 calories in preparation for the day.  I’m toying with the idea of trying this.

> Out the door early and to the race site by 5:30 a.m. for packet pickup and transition set up

> 8:30 a.m. start time

How I’ll be warming up from now on. Don’t judge.

A friend on my Tri team posted this in a forum.  Definitely worth sharing.
